I tried to work this out myself. I updated, uninstalled, reinstalled, and the whole nine yards. This latest build just keeps freezing when I mouse over and it rolls down. It will not roll back up and EVERY time I click on it, it crashes and opens up the report crash window. I've sent several. I went back to the 4.07.02 build and the problem is gone. Now it just insists it needs to update. The  other Stardock software I have installed is Groupy2, Multiplicity, IconPackager, Start 11, Keyboard Launchpad, and CursorFX. My second PC is running Windows 10 (to old for update) and is running the latest version of Fences with no issues at all.

Main PC Build:

Edition Windows 11 Home

Version 22H2

Installed on ‎2/‎20/‎2023

OS build 22621.1702

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22641.1000.0

Sorry I haven't been around. Life has been interesting and cumbersome to say the least. I stream now. 7 days a week. I was looking at some of the old DesktopX widgets I have. Some of which I have been able to use to decorate my screen/stream over Christmas. My hands shake too much to do the kind of things in photoshop i used to do.

I've used DesktopX a lot on windows 10 with no problems at all. I had a rather odd thought about DesktopX. Could it and all those wonderful widgets be adapted for streaming?? I stream 7 days a week now. I think other widgets and objects could be used or adapted as well. Also, adapted as animated png files (something I have explored after finding an app that converts images into animated png's) for use in Twitch panels. Like calendars(schedules) and countdown widgets, etc. Just a thought. I know I would use them for sure. There was (is) a lot of good art in all those widgets and DesktopX Objects.

Also, if you're looking for something new to stretch your legs in as it were, creating stream overlays would be insanely simple for the artists here and the theme possibilities would be endless. Forgive me for posting this in the wrong spot (if I have). It's just been eating at me for a while (and some of u know how I get). I've had to make my own overlays cause i can't afford what some of the sites ask for them.

This is just one example..

Not to overstep or step on toes or whatever. I really don't mean to, but this could open up a whole new area for skinning and streamers do pay for these things. Even a simple webcam frame by itself or an entire theme (static and/or animated)...It's just a thought. I'll leave you to it. I'll understand if this post gets deleted. np no hard feelings. I just wanted to get it off my mind, if u know what I mean. Peace.

fyi not sure how the image will show. 5602x3258 is the original size so you can see it better. Hopefully it shows that way when clicked on or downloaded.

So, this has to be the oddest, funniest, and just strangest thing I have seen from AVAST so far when it scans my PC.

What exactly is a 'decompression bomb' anyway?

Seems they don't want to play well together. Any one having issues with anything else? I've been holding off on updating my OD sub to see how things would work with this anniversary update.

March 7 2016 release of driver

Mar 8, 2016 11:46 PM by Discussion: Personal Computing

I downloaded the latest Game Ready Driver yesterday from NVIDIA when the Game Ready App alerted me it was available and fell victim to the BSOD as did thousands of others.

It took me a bit to even discover I was not alone and it was actually not my fault for a change.

I did manage to boot into repair mode and I did a system restore. A lot of people were not even able to do that. I can attest to the fact that constant rebooting only got me the BSOD over and over.

There were several fixes offered such as uninstalling and then reinstalling under the 'custom' setting and doing a clean install.

However, I came across this

New Game Ready Driver to solve yesterday's installation issues. WHQL-pending with Microsoft. You can grab it now

The link will take you to

Version: 364.51 BETA
Release Date: 2016.3.8
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
Language: English (US)
File Size: 324.51 MB

where you can download the update to version 364.47 driver that shut down so many PC's yesterday.

OR, as some folks are doing, wait it out. NVIDIA's first claim was that this was affecting only dual monitor set-ups, but if you look, you'll see single monitor rigs got hit as well (like mine).

Hope this is of some help to anyone who got snagged in the mess.

So I have been subscribing to ODN on a monthly basis, even though it costs more in the long run, it's what I could afford or I should say 'how' I could afford it. I have received the emails saying that the monthly sub will be discontinued as of April 2016.

My question is this : Come April, will programs that have NOT been compatible with Windows 10 be updated or not?

I am referring to

  • SoundPackager (which I miss dearly)
  • IconPackager (Another I miss dearly especially now that there is a version of Windowblinds that I can use with Windows 10)
  • Icon Developer
  • Skin Studio

I just want to know what I'm getting for the money. I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything, it's just that this is the first time that I can recall where so many items were behind or being left out.

I understand the demise of DesktopX. But I'm still a little touchy about the absence of Object Edit (I don't know if I'll ever understand why that was taken away. It was an insanely helpful program for a noob like me) and Icon X (which I can't believe couldn't be updated for newer versions of Windows, unless that was not the issue)

Again, not trying to sound argumentative or anything, just wondering what I am sure quite a few folks are wondering. Will these programs be ready come April, and if not, do you all have some kind of timeline of when they will be?

There is one other thought that runs through my mind in that, if I CANNOT install these programs because they are not compatible with Win10 but are part of the ODN package, what happens in a year when they are compatible and my sub has run out? DO I get them retroactively or do I have to subscribe again? I understand the sub gets me all the updates, etc., but sometimes some of us can only afford to pay for these things when it's convenient for US, if you know what I mean.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Just caught this

via MajorGeeks

"Mozilla announced on Wednesday that it will dump Google in favor of Yahoo as its default browser.

The deal is for five years, but the financial data was not released. Google had been the default browser for Firefox for a decade. But Firefox is now opting for a "a more local and flexible approach to increase choice and innovation on the Web, with new and expanded search partnerships by country," according to the company.

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mey said: search has been "an area of investment and opportunity" for the company in recent years. "It's also a key growth area for us—we've now seen 11 consecutive quarters of growth in our search revenue on an ex-TAC basis. This partnership helps to expand our reach in search and gives us an opportunity to work even more closely with Mozilla to find ways to innovate in search, communications, and digital content. I'm also excited about the long-term framework we developed with Mozilla for future product integrations and expansion into international markets." "

I use Google Chrome about 90% of the time now, so this isn't a huge deal for me. More or less just another reason not to go back to Firefox. However, I can't even recall the last time I used YAHOO for anything, including email or as a search engine. I think the last time I visited Yahoo was when Geocities was still active and that was only because Geocities was a free place to build a website.

If Mozilla makes it that I cannot change  or choose the search engine I want to use in Firefox, then it will be a complete bye-bye to Mozilla.

I have seen this posted on Facebook and am unfamiliar with it. Since I don't have ODN right now I was curious.  Is it a desktop customization suite?
